Judith DanielsIn her slide presentation Judith will be speaking about the process of making handmade felt and the road that she has taken artistically that has culminated in the textile work that she is producing today.
Judith M. Daniels has been an artist of one form or another for most of her adult life but has been concentrating on fiber art for the past eight years. She is in love with the many possibilities for layering and manipulating soft materials. Her primary medium is handmade felt but she combines this with paper and hand painted and dyed silk fabrics. Her work is in private collections across the US and is in the collection of the Copelouzos Family Art Museum in Athens, Greece. She has received grants from the Somerville Arts Council, distributed by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Arts Council. She is co-representative for the Maine branch of the Surface Design Association and is a member of the Northeast Feltmakers Guild, the International Feltmakers Association, the FiberArts Network and the Tafa List. Her BA degree is in Arts and Crafts and their History from the University of California at Santa Cruz. She lives in Rockland, ME with her photographer husband and Rusty the Wonderdog. |
