Lyla Ross

Lyla Ross, a Bath resident for over 20 years, has always made art. In college, she majored in art history. Jump ahead a few decades, and she joined a class for hand-building in clay. Three dimensions were a pleasure to work with and it didn't long for her to try her hand at Papier Mache. The puppets' heads are made with that material, then painted with acrylics, and designed with multi-media like fabric, glue, and found objects. She declares some of them formed their own personality before long, and she would follow those dictates, while others are in her imagination before they become solid. The hand puppets are utilitarian, in that you can use them to put on shows, or they can just be decorative. They are durable, and are made to last a good long time.
