Our associate member Barbara Burns has been developing an event calendar for us and it's filling up!

The first Virtual Artist Talk will be Tuesday, April 20, 6:30-7:30 pm. Susan Perrine, who creates the woven structures and lamps you may have seen in our window and Wayne Robbins- Contemporary Hand Carved Wood Birds and Marine Mammals will be talking about their work.

Library Description
Registration Only (required)

Trunk shows have also been scheduled. If you're not familiar with them, they are a great way to get some special pieces from artists. They bring in work that may be new or more variety of what they usually have. No matter what, it's always a treat.  They only last a few hours so be sure to put them on your calendar. We have Suzanne Anderson, Jackie Haines, and Bonnie Bishoff scheduled so far. You can see our complete calendar with descriptions. We update it as events are scheduled.

April Brings Us Out!

3/31/2021

April is a refreshing month in Maine. Easter and Earth Day are welcome celebrations. Flowers seem anxious to appear, sometimes pushing through the snow. Our artists who have been busy all winter long are starting to bring new work into the gallery. For those of you who follow a particular artist, some new pieces may surprise you!
This month, you can see the creative pieces using natural materials by Susan Perrine in our window. Susan’s twig lamps and a 7 foot tall woven structure are currently featured.

Woven Tapestry Pillow of Kamala Harris by Barbara Burns
Tapestry Pillow- Kamala Harris by Barbara Burns
For the month of March, Markings has been celebrating our many women artists. If you have been by the gallery, no doubt you have seen our window with the tapestry pillows woven by associate member Barbara Burns.  You can find many celebrated women including Vice President Kamala Harris, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Queen Elizabeth and several more. As the month ends, our celebration doesn't. You can find these remarkable pillows inside the gallery.
