July 1-31
Natasha Kempers–Cullen is a mixed media artist from Bowdoinham. Her creativity flows freely with whatever media she touches often showing a playful interpretation of words sometimes translated into fiber …and in this case CDs and recycled items!
Artist’s statement :
I have been making GARDEN GIRLS for several years. They are scarecrows of a sort. While not actually scaring any crows that I can tell, they are very playful and have all kinds of parts that move and jingle with the wind. In creating them, I use as many recycled items as I can, and really enjoy the hunt for sillier and crazier things to use! The cds are great little items to suspend from the GIRLS’ arms, as they twist and catch the light all day long. I think this is a super use for cds as I am not much of a digitally oriented person! And so, the featured item in this show is the humble cd. Come in to our gallery and check it out.
